Congratulations to Dr. Dmitry Mitrofanov for successfully defending his excellent PhD dissertation: “Choice-based demand models for emerging applications in retail and online platform operations.”
During his PhD, Dmitry worked on two methodological papers (one on offline personalized promotions and the other on predicting demand on sharing economy platforms) and two empirical papers (one on customer loyalty on ride-hailing platforms and the other on how Uber & Lyft differ before and after their respective IPOs).
Dmitry’s work is of top-notch quality. Three of Dmitry’s papers are under review at OR, Mgmt. Sc. and ISR. He won second place in the prestigious “MSOM Student Paper Competition” and was also a finalist for the “IBM Service Science Best Student Paper Award.”
Dmitry had a successful job market year. He got an offer from Boston College early in the job market (in fact, BC was his first interview!). While he had other flyouts, he accepted the offer by the end of Nov, three weeks into the OM job season.
Dmitry’s thesis committee: Maxime Cohen, Anindya Ghose, Srikanth Jagabathula (Chair), Gustavo Vulcano, and Jiawei Zhang. Gustavo and Maxime are also co-authors on some of Dmitry’s papers.
Well done Dmitry!
